The ambiguity works both ways..

As usual, like the most of us, Internet Messenger has been the major mean of communication throughout our restless week. Every now and then u’ll hear the “cring cring!” or “buzz!”. Yeah don’t lie to me that u never had been sent a nudge. Sometimes too many people wanna speak at the same time and i got too caught up with the multiple windows that ignoring the person next to me who’s talking painstakingly under the assumption that i was listening was best i could do. well i was to be blamed though for nodding and smiling on the jokes made by the other end of the line. But this is not the point that i’m gonna march thru.. let’s see.. apa aku nk cakap eh..

oh yeh…

IM is also one a good way to share files. though for the best of us the connection is rather lag due to the constrict bandwidth controlled by the all-the-jealous administrator of our beloved college. ok lets leave that beside…

SCENE

i got this friend of mine.. all the sudden trying to send me this cool song from Damien Rice. of course u have the right to click cancel.. and i did.. not because i don’t like it but just because i already have the file.

then come the time when i have another cool mp3 to let other ppl to listen… what’s the name of the band u say? ouh.. i forgot. they’re just too many. could be the killers or perhaps rob timberlake-thomas new single. yeah i listen to lotsa crappy stuff now. it’s fun. well sometimes the sold out artists need to be heard. and so i dragged the file to the messaging window and guess what happen for the next few seconds.. she canceled it…. !!!!

“asal ko cancel weih… accept ah”
“eleh.. aku dah ade ah..”
‘eleh’… why ‘eleh’..? damn woman..
PROBLEM

ok now.. altho small i do felt a lil sickening in the stomach. it’s like u wanna share something u think worth sharing but the other end don’t seems to appreciate ur intention.

ANALYSIS

it all comes down to the person’s real intention and whats going on on their mind. so let’s nail this down by listing all possible explanations of the ambiguous situation.

Sender:

1. “hey this stuff is awesome.. you should listen to it”

2. ” just thought that i could share this so i can get u into bed… i mean room.. eh, i mean hotel.. no, i mean .. errr get u into listening…”

2. “i want to brainwash you with what i have.. so click it!”

3. “dude.. i’m gonna be the first to let u have this and u should be proud to be my friend. u’re soo gonna thank me later.”

4. “dude, i’m so cool that i have so much cool stuff. why don’t u click that ‘accept’ and see how interesting and source-master i can be.

Receiver:

1.” oh i feel so needed. he wants to share stuff with me…”

2. “thanks man.. but i already have it.”

3. “oh he is so generous “

3. “damn byk betul koleksi die. aku mana bole kalah. baik aku ckp aku dah ade….”

4. “eh, since when u’re so good to me, thanks for the stuff man…”

5. “shit, this is just one of his way to screw me with his stupid music. who does he think he is, trend setter?”

6. “sudahlah.. nak berlagak ngan apa yg ko ade…”

7. “Apa nie.. porn ker? eii tak nak ah…”

please take note that he=she=he=woman; changing the connotation won’t make a different. still, i’m sure this has happen to us. not just mp3s, it can be pictures, link to the hottest scary boo site (yang kasi terkejut kejut tuh) movies etc, the stuff that we love to share including the illegal ones. and i mean the illegalx ones. if u dont believe me. try sending over a short movie u took on ur summer vacation in paris. “alahai.. nih apa nih… paris paris nih. melambak lah kat kazaa..”

so which thinking-type are you? some may be envious while some can be truthful and some can be apprehensive. i don’t have the right answer for any argument u would come out of ur blabber mouth. the situation is legit nevertheless small. but think about it genially, if u dig deeper, deeper than ur middle finger up thru ur nose, the judgment u make defines YOU. no matter what and where the circumstances are, what ever u do next, please think of all the possible best steps that YOU WANT so that it CHARACTERIZES YOU. it is simple to wrap a thread around a wire yet it comes in plenty different ways with many complicated meanings.

good intentions are always misinterpreted. bad causal sometimes are not clearly determined. so think about it my friend. it takes more than just common sense. think! the brain is there not just for physics 112. use it for our interpersonal skills, it’ll help a lot.. in the end, again it comes to our good or bad intention. i’m sure u’re not gonna choose the latter…
